F1 2022: Verstappen takes first win at Monza as Italian GP proves unlucky for Ferrari – Times of India

The 16th round of the 2022 Formula 1 season has arrived monza, Italy – Home of the Scuderia Ferrari. a host of drivers including Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, carlos sanzo, sergio perez etc to 2022. Grid penalty received for Italian Grand Prixwith Charles Leclerc Starting the race from pole position ahead of George Russell and Lando Norris.
Current championship leader Max Verstappen started the race from P7, but his Red Bull straight line speed and soft rubber helped him to finish 5th on lap 5, only ahead of Charles Leclerc. Meanwhile other Red Bull Racing driver Checo Perez fell to last place after the brakes overheated, causing him to make a pit stop on lap 9.
Sebastian Vettel’s race ended shortly after due to a power unit failure, which resulted in the deployment of a virtual safety car. This helped Charles Leclerc make a quick pit stop while switching to medium compound tyres. Meanwhile Fernando Alonso, Vettel’s teammate Lance Stroll, and Daniel Ricciardo also had to retire their respective cars.

The race ended in the back of a safety car, with Max Verstappen winning another – his first at Monza and his fifth consecutive win this season. Sadly for Tifosi, Ferrari had to settle for positions P2 (Leclerc) and P4 (Sainz) on the grid. George Russell separated the two Ferrari drivers as they completed the podium.
Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton both finished the 2022 Italian Grand Prix in fourth and fifth place, 14–14, respectively. Sergio Perez was yet another driver who made a great recovery after slipping to 20th place, but finished the race in 6th place. Nyck De Vries was voted Driver of the Day after finishing 9th while driving for Williams and scoring his first point in Formula 1.
