FIFA rankings: Argentina top, France second, Brazil drop to third

World Cup winners Argentina topped the FIFA rankings on Thursday for the first time in six years.

Argentina’s two wins in friendlies last month ended a one-year run at the top for Brazil, who lost 2-1 to Morocco and dropped to No.

France, after defeating World Cup finalists, moved up one place to No. 2 behind Argentina.

Belgium finished with England at No. 4 after two wins after defeating No. 8 Italy.

Europe rounded out the top 10 with No. 7, followed by Croatia, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

Morocco, which has joined Spain and Portugal in the 2030 World Cup bid plan, finished 11th to lead African teams.

The United States was still No. 13, two ahead of regional rival Mexico. Canada, the other North American co-host of the 2026 World Cup, moved up six places to 47th.

Japan at No. 20 was the best among Asian teams, and 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar fell to No. 61.
