Former Chairman and Managing Director of Ford India, Anurag Mehrotra, has now joined Tata Motors as Vice President – International Business and Strategy of its Commercial Vehicle Business Unit (CVBU). Anurag, who recently resigned from his leadership position at Ford India, assumes a new role at Tata Motors with effect from October 1, 2021. Anurag Mehrotra’s decision to join Tata Motors comes after the announcement about Ford India’s decision to discontinue vehicle manufacturing in India. Earlier in September 2021, Ford announced that it would stop selling locally manufactured cars in India and would close both its car plants in Chennai and Sanand. After spending more than 2 decades in the Indian market, Ford saw that it was no longer profitable for the company to make cars in India. The carmaker has said that its plan is only to Sell your global products, such as the Mustang, as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) model in India.
