Goa: MLA and CM Sawant who joined BJP reached Delhi to meet PM Modi

8 MLAs who joined BJP in Goa are going to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant arrived in Delhi late on Sunday night with eight new MLAs who joined the BJP from the Congress.

CM Sawant said, ‘We have come to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.

Earlier on 14 September all eight MLAs; Digambar Kamat, Michael Lobo, Delilah Lobo, Rajesh Faldesai, Kedar Naik, Sankalp Amonkar, Alexo Sequeira and Rudolf Fernandes joined the BJP after meeting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the assembly premises.

Former Congress MLA Digambar Kamat said, “I went to a temple, asked the deities that this (joining BJP) is on my mind, what should I do… God said you go ahead, don’t worry “

Former Congress MLA Michael Lobo said, “We have merged with 2/3 majority in BJP to strengthen the hands of PM Modi and CM Pramod Sawant. Quit Congress, join BJP.”

Meanwhile, Goa CM Sawant also took a dig at the Rahul Gandhi-led India Jodi Yatra and said, “The Congress Quit Yatra will now start from Goa” while welcoming the leaders.

BJP It already has a majority of 25 in the House of 40, of which it has 20 MLAs of its own, two others from the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and three independent leaders.

With the joining of eight Congress MLAs, its count will increase to 33.

Development came among Congress leader Rahul GandhiLed the Bharat Jodi Yatra to counter the BJP-led Center and awaken the people of the country to the dangers of economic inequalities, social polarization and political centralisation.
