Goa to stop offering EV subsidy from July 31: Details explained – Times of India

The Department of New and Renewable Energy, Government of Goa has issued a notice announcing that it will stop offering subsidy for Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the state with effect from July 31, 2022. This makes Goa the first state in the country. to stop subsidies for EVs,
The Goa Electric Mobility Policy was introduced in December 2021 to promote and promote the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs), including electric motorcycles, scooters, three- and four-wheelers, for daily commuting. The subsidy amount is Rs 30,000 per vehicle for two wheelers, Rs 60,000 per vehicle for electric three wheelers and Rs 3 lakh per vehicle for electric four wheelers.
The subsidy was limited to a maximum of 3,000 electric two-wheelers, 50 three-wheelers and 300 four-wheelers. In order to avoid the rush of EV buyers claiming subsidy, those who are eligible, i.e. those who have purchased the vehicle between 16 December 2021 and 31 July 2022, their applications will continue to be accepted after 31 July.
Considering the increasing demand for EVs, other states are expected to follow in Goa’s footsteps to discontinue EV policies. Note that the incentives provided under the FAME II scheme of the central government will continue in the state.
