Google releases OTA update for Pixel 6, 6 Pro

american tech giants Google Finally a much awaited OTA update has been pushed to us. Pixel 6 and 6 Pro smartphones after a failed December update.

According to GSM Arena, if users are updating from November patch, then the pulled update will be 215 MB and if one is coming from December patch then just 40 MB.

In addition to the latest January update, Google has also published system images and OTA files for the Pixel Duo. The January update includes all the improvements that were in the December update as well as some new ones for this month.

The new update brings major improvements including bug squash related to call screen usage and making emergency calls, battery drain issues under certain conditions, general UI fixes that should smoothen the user experience and make Wi-Fi more stable.

This update comes after the outrage faced by Pixel 6 users after the December update. This was meant to address bugs from the software build that came before it, but it ended up having Signal issues for users globally.

This caused Google to disable some of its Pixel-exclusive features due to a bug and some users were updated in December, while others were left on the November update until Google delayed the December update. Couldn’t solve everything from the November update, which never came for those stuck.

Updates for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro started rolling out on January 14 and should be available for all Pixel 6 devices next week.

For those unaware, the January update rolled out to older Pixel users starting back January 4.
