Governor to administer oath to Mamata Banerjee as MLA on October 7

Usually the swearing-in of MLAs is presided over by the Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, but on this occasion the Governor has decided to administer the oath to Ms. Banerjee and two other elected representatives. Ms Banerjee will become a member of the state assembly after taking oath on Thursday. She contested the West Bengal Assembly elections from Nandigram and lost to the BJP candidate. Ms Banerjee won in Bhabnipur by a margin of 58,832 votes.
