Govt, RBI to issue treasury bills worth ₹1.95 lakh crore for last month of FY2023

The government, in consultation with the RBI, has increased the amount of treasury bills issued 1.95 lakh crore in the last month of the current financial year 2012. Earlier, the amount of issue was 1.45 lakh crore in March 2023. An increase in treasury bill issuance is likely to meet the short-term liquidity mismatch.

There will be five auctions in March—of which— 91 days treasury bills will be priced at Rs. 9,000 crore each, while 182 days and 364 days would be 16,000 crores and 14,000 crores respectively.

According to Finance MinistryThe first issuance of Treasury Bills after its auction on March 1 will be on March 2. The second auction will be held on March 8 and subsequently on March 9.

Similarly, the third auction will be held on March 15 and will be released on March 16.

There will be two more auctions on March 23rd and March 29th, and just like above, will be released on the very next days which will be March 24th and March 31st.
