“Gujarat should develop under new leadership”: Vijay Rupani
Gujarat’s development must proceed under one leadership, BJP’s Vijay Rupani said on Saturday, moments after his unexpected resignation as the state’s chief minister.
“I believe that the journey of development of Gujarat will move forward with new vigor and new energy under new leadership. Keeping this in mind, I have resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat.”
He said in a statement to the media soon after resigning.
Mr. Rupani said, “I am grateful that a party worker like me was given an important opportunity to serve as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.”
He said, “Throughout my tenure, I got the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under his guidance, Gujarat’s progress has touched new heights. I am grateful to Hon’ble Prime Minister for the opportunity to contribute to the development of the state. “
