Known for his versatile acting, singing, hosting and affinity towards literature and poetry, Ayushmann Khurrana made waves before becoming a Bollywood star. Born in Chandigarh, he did theater during his college years. He also founded his own college theater group, participated in street plays and won awards at college festivals.
When he was in college, the star composed the popular song ‘Pani Da’ with a friend. He was a popular face on reality shows and was the winner of MTV Roadies in 2004. An RJ, VJ and television host, Ayushmann also appeared in the daily soap.
In 2012, Vicky Donor made him a household name. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film’s theme was male infertility and sperm donation, which was considered a bold taboo and was never explored in Bollywood.
Since then the actor has not looked back. Ayushmann went on to become a renowned hit machine delivering back-to-back hits, which were critically and commercially well received. On his birthday, let’s take a look at some of his upcoming projects:

Ayushmann Khurrana will star in the social drama directed by debutant Anubhav Kashyap. He will play the role of Dr. Uday Gupta in the film based on the premises of a medical institute.
Rakul Preet Singh has been roped in to play the lead lady. Shefali Shah and Sheeba Chaddha will be seen playing other important roles. Ayushmann will be working with Junglee Pictures for the third time after Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) and Badhaai Ho (2018). The shooting of the upcoming comedy was completed in the first week of September. No official release date has been confirmed yet.
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui
This romantic drama directed by Abhishek Kapoor will bring Ayushmann and Vaani Kapoor together on the big screen for the first time. Told to be a progressive love story, the film will see Ayushmann playing the role of a cross-functional athlete.
The actor has grown in size to portray his character well on screen. He gained 10kg to look the part and trained in freestyle weightlifting and freestyle wrestling. Ayushmann, who will be sporting six-pack abs in the film, also explored CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting.

The action thriller film is written and directed by Anubhav Sinha. Ayushmann and Sinha are joining forces for the second time after winning the much-acclaimed Article 15 gold medal in 2019. Touted as the filmmaker’s costliest project till date, Anek has Ayushmann essaying the role of a man named Joshua.
According to the actor, the film represents the new age of cinema and explores a subject that is yet to be explored in Hindi cinema. The film was extensively shot in the North East.
Additionally, Ayushmann has two other projects. Two unreleased films – Googly with Nushrat Bharucha and a remake of Chhoti Si Baat (1976) starring Amol Palekar. The movies were announced a few years back but there is no official update.
