Heavy rains lashed the district on the intervening night of August 28-29, 2022, causing heavy flooding in some parts of Ramnagar district.

On the morning of 29 August, a private bus going from Bangalore to Kollegala got stuck on a flooded underpass on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway. Locals pulled the bus out of the water using a tractor. However, the bus broke down and could not proceed, leaving the passengers stranded.

Former Chief Minister and Channapatna MLA HD Kumaraswamy, who reached the spot after getting information about the plight of the passengers, called the Deputy Commissioner and requested him to arrange an alternate bus.

Near Sangbasappana Doddi, five buses and several cars were stuck in the underpass for hours. Later the vehicles were dispatched with the help of cranes.

Abhishek, the driver of a bus carrying Bosch employees, said, “There were about 30 employees in the bus. We were stuck for hours. Finally cranes were deployed to shift all the vehicles. Alternative arrangements were made for the employees to reach their destination in Ramnagar. ,
