Here’s how to set up pollution testing center business

PUC Center has evolved into a viable self-employment option

A yellow cabin with dimensions of 2.5m X 2.0m x 2.0m should house the PUC center when it opens for the first time.

Car owners are now more aware of the need to renew their insurance and get regular pollution control certificates for their vehicles due to the stringent penalties for violations prescribed under the Motor Vehicles Act 2019. While some people do not like the strict motor vehicle rules, others can earn up to Rs 5,000 per day by investing Rs 10,000 at a time. PUC Center which is also known as Pollution Control Center is the easy way to provide employment.

As per the new Motor Vehicle Act 2019, people are especially careful about PUC certificate as failing to do so will attract a fine of Rs 10,000. Ironically, a vehicle owner can pay anywhere between Rs 20 to Rs 200 at a PUC center to obtain an NOC.

As a result, vehicle owners often queue up outside PUC centers in search of PUC certificate. The present number of PUC centers is insufficient to issue NOC to all vehicle owners visiting their centres. Hence, PUC Center has evolved as a viable self-employment option for an unemployed person as it requires an investment of only Rs 10,000 and offers daily earning potential of up to Rs 5,000.

Below is the step-by-step guide for setting up a PUC center:

Step 1: Submit an application for a license to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to set up a PUC centre.

Step 2: Submit the application to the nearest RTO office from your address as per any official ID

3: A PUC center can be set up near a gas station or car repair shop

Step 4: Include an affidavit of Rs 10 with your registration application

5: Include terms and conditions in the declaration of Rs 10

6: Get NOC from Municipality

7: The cost of issuing a PUC center license varies depending on the jurisdiction

8: Online PUC Center license applications are accepted in some jurisdictions. To register online for PUC center visit vahan.parivahan.gov.in/puc and login.

As mentioned above, different states charge different fees for PUC center license. A security deposit of Rs 5,000 and an annual fee of Rs 5,000 is required for PUC center license application in Delhi-NCR.

terms and conditions

A yellow cabin with dimensions of 2.5m X 2.0m x 2.0m should house the PUC center when it opens for the first time. The PUC center needs to make its registration number visible to the customers. It can be established by an individual, business, society or charity. A PUC center can be opened only by someone having an engineering degree in automotive engineering, motor mechanics, auto mechanics, scooter mechanics or ITI.

Income

Explain that the government sticker, which costs only Rs 2, should be attached while issuing the pollution certificate to the vehicle owners. To buy these stickers the owner of a PUC center has to pay Rs 2 to the government. The rest of the money towards the pollution certificate fee becomes entirely the owner’s income. Therefore, the owner of a PUC center can earn at least Rs 5,000 if he issues pollution certificates to 50 cars in a day.
