Here’s How You Classify Yourself After Taking Civil Services Exam

As the Civil Services Preliminary Examination is over, the participants wait for the answer sheet to be uploaded on the internet. The answer sheet is usually posted within three and a half hours after the end of the exam.

After comparing their answers with the answer sheet, the participants get an idea about one of the three categories in which they can clear the test. The first category is those who are sure that they will be selected.

These people immediately start preparing for the main exam. The second category also includes those who are sure that they can miss the opportunity this time.

The third category includes those who are stuck somewhere between these two categories. They find themselves in a situation that means they may or may not be selected. This article is primarily intended for people in the third category.

Firstly, let us understand that their luck depends on the Cut Off Marks. It was 58% in 2016 which came down to 46.26% last year. This means that there is a high probability of divergence.

Still, to get an idea for this year, it would be more logical to consider last year’s 46%. There are two major reasons for that. First, this year also the level of examination has remained the same as last year.

Second, the condition of the participants preparing for the exam has remained the same as last year due to the pandemic, which means most of them did their coaching online. When participants attend classes, listen to lectures, discuss and come into contact with each other, it positively affects their level of knowledge. Lack of coaching facilities could be a reason for the 46% cut off last year.

This means that if a person is expecting to score more than 45% marks, then you should not wait for the declaration of Preliminary exam result to start preparing for main exam. You won’t be able to bring back the days you wasted just wondering whether you will make it or not. If by chance you are not selected in the past, then your studies will never go in vain.
