about red panda

A red panda is slightly larger than a domestic cat and has a bear-like body and thick russet fur. According to WorldWildLife (WWF), the population is less than 10,000. The acrobatic and highly skilled red panda loves to live in trees. About half of the red panda’s habitat is in the eastern Himalayas. They rely on their long, bushy tail to help with balance and, possibly, to provide warmth in winter. According to the WWF, the word “panda”, which refers to an animal that consumes bamboo or other plants, is derived from the Nepali word “ponya”.
