IIT Mandi Startup Challenge application open, winners get Rs 5 lakh in cash, funding up to Rs 50 lakh

NS Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has invited applications for the fifth edition of its annual flagship event, Himalayan Startup Trek (HST). The competition will be held on 11th and 12th December.

Startups, innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs can participate in this challenge and stand a chance to win a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and a funding opportunity of Rs 50 lakh during the event. The last date to apply is November 25, IIT said in an official statement.

The event aims to bring together stakeholders of the Indian startup ecosystem and provide a platform for young entrepreneurs to present their ideas for incubation support and raise funds from investors. The event is supported by the HP Center for Entrepreneurship Development, Department of HP Industries. Applications can be filled out on the program’s website.

There is a prize money of up to Rs 2 lakh to be distributed to the top three startups in the given disciplines in each of the thematic areas. In addition, top startups will be provided with incubation support and prototyping as well as funding access for product development and funding up to Rs 50 lakh through various funding schemes hosted by Catalyst.

IIT Mandi Catalyst has supported over 160 startups across various sectors. Catalyst has hosted over 100 such events till date. In addition, the funding requirements of startups in the initial stages are also met through the funding schemes organized in Catalyst. Catalyst, till date, has disbursed or committed over Rs 6 crore to startups for prototyping and commercialization purposes.

Through its support programmes, IIT Mandi guides early stage entrepreneurial initiatives by providing support in catalytic infrastructure, finance, mentoring and industry connections, thereby making itself an attractive destination for startups across the country.
