IIT Roorkee sets up Rock and Fluid Multi-Physics Laboratory

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee has set up a Rock and Fluid Multiphysics Laboratory, which will focus on petroleum engineering, geosciences and the study of various forms of energy resources.

The College of Engineering said on Monday that the lab hosts a host of state-of-the-art equipment and technologies in the fields of applied geoscience and petroleum engineering.

“It can facilitate multiphysics and multiscale experiments and build feasibility models to increase the success rates of energy companies’ exploration and development goals in their efforts to successfully exploit conventional and unconventional energy resources,” the college said in its statement. “

Ajit K Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee said, “The Rock and Fluid Multi-Physics Laboratory at IIT Roorkee is ideally located near the Himalayan mountain range and very close to the headquarters of ONGC. “This laboratory will make a significant contribution to petroleum engineering.
