Rohit Sharma survived twice in the first over

The encounter between India and Australia in Indore lit up from the very first ball when Indian skipper Rohit Sharma took strike against left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc.

The action came to light in Indore when India And Australia lock horns in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 at the Holkar Stadium on Wednesday. The match started with the very first ball when Indian skipper Rohit Sharma took strike against left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc. It has always been a great match to watch and as expected, Starc started troubling the Indian skipper from ball one.

The left-arm fast bowler, who missed the first two Tests due to a finger injury, started with a good length delivery. Rohit looks to poke but gets beaten on the outside edge. However, the sound suggested that there was a nick.

The Australians appeal and once on-field umpire Nitin Menon turns it down, the visitors decide not to review it. It was later revealed that there was little contact between the bat and the ball as a spike was clearly visible when the ball passed the bat.

A few balls later, Rohit was in the limelight again as Starc hit him on the pads. It was a tough length delivery that shaped up quickly. The Indian captain tried to defend but the ball hit the pad as it went towards the keeper. Another strong appeal from the Aussies but Menon was not convinced.

Once the over was over, ball tracking showed that the delivery was hitting the stumps and so, Australia again missed an opportunity, scoring twice in the first over itself.

Few overs later, Australia finally managed to get Rohit Sharma out. Spinner Matthew Kuhnmann found early success as the Indian skipper danced down the ground to send a flighted delivery out of the park. Unfortunately, he was beaten by the turn and the rest was done by Alex Carey behind the wicket.

Earlier, Team India won the toss against Australia and decided to bat first.
