India beat West Indies by 17 runs, win T20 series 3-0

India thrashed West Indies by 17 runs in the third and final T20I to complete a 3-0 series whitewash on Sunday, February 20, 2022. Suryakumar Yadav scored 65 runs in 31 balls to bundle out India for 184 for five in 20 overs.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav played a swashbuckling innings of 184 for five in the third Twenty20 International against West Indies on Sunday.

India, who took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series on Friday, lost their top four batsmen for 93 runs in the 14th over after being invited to bat first in Kolkata.

But Yadav held firm from one end to take on the West Indies attack in a 37-ball 91 with Venkatesh Iyer, who smashed an unbeaten 35 to help score a challenging total.

Yadav scored his fourth T20I half-century in 27 balls and ended with seven sixes, including three in the final over, as West Indies got 21 runs.

Pace spearhead Jason Holder sent Ruturaj Gaikwad back for four after a direct hit off Kyle Meyers at third man, where he took a catchy catch.

Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan returned with boundaries to complete the team’s 50 runs in 41 balls but leg-spinner Hayden Walsh was broken.

Shreyas fell to Walsh on 25 off 16 balls and left-hander Kishan soon went to the pavilion behind his teammate after being bowled by Roston Chase. He 34.

Fast bowler Dominic Drakes bowled Rohit Sharma, who was appointed Test captain on Saturday, for seven, to move the captain from his normal starting slot to number four.
