India gets its first smart food court in Pune; details inside

We live in a digital world where everything is available with just a few clicks. Today we do almost everything digitally. After the pandemic, we have felt the convenience even more. The hospitality sector has also been quick to pick up on this trend – food apps being a perfect example. We regularly reply to these apps to get our favorite recipes. Taking a step forward (towards digitisation), India has got its first smart food court in Pune. As per reports in several media outlets, Smart Food Court has opened its doors at Law College Road, Erandwane, Pune. The venue will host over 15 popular brands across food categories. The court, spread over 3,000 square feet, offers a digital customer experience, the report said.

How does Smart Food Court work?

In the Smart Food Court, the customer will be allowed to place orders from their favorite food brands through kiosks and iPads or by scanning the QR code available on the table. Once ready, customers will be notified of the order through a digital screen in the store or through a WhatsApp message. The customer can then choose to dine-in or order take-out.

A statement from the food company that opened it suggests that they took the initiative to re-imagine the traditional process of food court service.
