A 16-year-old boy from Indore, Madhya Pradesh accidentally hanged himself during the shooting of his Instagram reel. He wanted to create a fake hanging sequence for the photo-sharing platform, but accidentally strangled himself.

Aditya, the son of Devilala Nayak and a Class 10 student, was addicted to social media. The family said that he used to upload videos regularly on all social media platforms. Recently, his family had got him deleted all such apps but last week his parents had gone to attend a wedding ceremony in Ratlam. Not letting go of the opportunity, Aditya called his friends to his house and tried to shoot a fake video of the hanging. However, as soon as the teenager climbed onto a chair and put a noose around his neck, he slipped and died after being hit by a rope. Other frightened youths fled from the spot. The incident came to light when Aditya’s younger brother Rajdeep returned from his coaching class in the afternoon. He called the neighbors and took his brother to a private hospital but the doctor declared the youth brought dead.

The police later confiscated Aditya’s mobile phone for investigation. Friends of the deceased have confirmed that the teenager was making a fake video, but no such clip has been found in the phone so far. This matter is under investigation.

Earlier this year, an Instagram influencer from Mumbai was arrested for allegedly faking his death online. Iffi Khan (Irrfan Khan) was arrested by the police for abetting suicide. The affected man shot a video of himself, where he was seen sitting on a railway track in Mumbai after he was allegedly rejected by his lover. The video was edited to show that he was hit by a train. The video was shared by social media users on Twitter and went viral. Eventually, it caught the attention of the Bandra Police.
