  • Dhoni could not progress in the death overs

Fast bowler Marco Jensen began his stay in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) on a happy note after receiving the prized wicket of MS Dhoni during the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday, April 9. Dr. Up Patil Sports Complex in Mumbai.

Dhoni, who scored a half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in CSK’s first game this season, could not go much further against the Orange Army. He failed to go after coming to bat after the dismissal of Shivam Dubey in the 16th over. The 40-year-old was dismissed for only three runs off six balls.

Janssen dug into the short-pitch slow delivery and Dhoni could only hit the ball over the fine leg area to Umran Malik. The left-arm pacer was delighted after getting rid of Dhoni, who is not far from 5000 IPL runs.

“Anyone would be happy to have MS Dhoni,” 21-year-old Jensen was quoted as saying after the first innings.

‘nervous in the beginning’

Johnson made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2021 but was released by the five-time champions. Subsequently, Sunrisers included him in the mega auction at a price of Rs 4.20 crore. In their first game, the southpaw finished with good figures of 4-0-30-1.

The pacer had butterflies in his stomach but CSK stuck to his plan to restrict the batsmen. “Nervous in the beginning, but nice to have the opportunity. It’s hardest to play with your variation… I didn’t have much swing, so I went for the cross-seam route,” he added.
