Dimitri Petratos strikes as ATK Mohun Bagan beat Odisha FC 2-0 in Indian Super League

ATK Mohun Bagan defeated Odisha FC 2-0 in their Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Saturday. Dimitri Petratos powered ATK Mohun Bagan to third as Odisha slipped to seventh on the Indian Super League points table.

The Mariners started the game on a positive note, approaching it confidently.

In the third minute, Carl McHugh won the ball in mid-field with a well-timed challenge as the ball fell to Hugo Boumous, who chipped it past Manvir Singh. The Indian forward made a movement down the right and crossed a wobbly ball down the middle. It somehow fell at Hugo’s feet but he failed to control the ball as Dimitri Petratos stepped up to pass it past Amarinder Singh.

In the 16th minute, Aashiq Kurunian raced down the left in search of another goal but his shot went wide.

The game saw an increasing intensity of challenges as Odisha FC found it difficult to hold on to the ball with ATK Mohun Bagan players being pressed in mad fashion. Instead they failed to keep possession and make the most of whatever they managed.

As the half drew to a close, a battle broke out on the field. The mid-field fight had turned into an all-out enmity as the referee showed a flurry of yellow cards.

After the restart, ATK Mohun Bagan looked to repeat their first half feat of scoring early. Ashiq Kuruniyan made his way into a dangerous position but his effort was off the mark.

In the 48th minute, Odisha FC launched an attack down the right as the deflected ball was picked up in the middle by Carlos Delgado, but his long-range effort went just wide.

The Mariners also squandered a chance to double their lead with some poor shots and hurried attempts.

With the game slowing down, ATK Mohun Bagan doubled their lead in the 80th minute as Liston Colaco and Hugo combined to release Ashish Rai from behind, who in turn slid past Petratos. The Aussie made no mistake in front of goal, managing not to stray an inch offside.

Four minutes later, after being fed by Federico Gallego, Liston had a golden chance to score, but his low shot hit the post. his head.

In the closing moments of the match, anger finally boiled over after Ashiq Kuruniyan was shown a straight red card for retaliating after a challenge by Carlos Delgado.
