Arshdeep has returned to the team after missing a few Sri Lankan matches due to illness. However, the fast bowler looked very disheveled and out of his rhythm. He ended his spell by taking one wicket and giving away 51 runs. Arshdeep has big shoes to fill as he replaces death over specialist Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian team, who has been battling recurring back injuries. Mohammed Siraj along with veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami has also been rested for the T20I series against New Zealand.
The action now moves to the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow where Young Indians led by Hardik Pandya After losing the first match, the team will aim to level the series 1-1. The final T20I will be played at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
