Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren accuses BJP of forming a ‘PIL gang’ against the government

The Jharkhand Chief Minister on Monday accused the opposition BJP of forming a “PIL gang” to harass the UPA government and said the party was bent on destabilizing the Jharkhand government.

Addressing a public meeting, Hemant Soren said that the saffron party has been “looting” since the formation of the state. Notably, the apex court sets aside the Jharkhand HC count It upheld the PIL seeking probe against CM Soren in a mine lease case. Hemant Soren also said that the state is “misusing” central agencies like ED and Income Tax Department to serve its interests.

The Jharkhand Chief Minister alleged, “BJP ruled the state for 20 years and looted and did nothing for the rural people, poor, farmers, youth and old people.” to fulfill promises.

“Jharkhand had a peculiar situation in the state ever since the UPA government came to power and with the clear intention of ensuring the development of the state. Some forces became so active that they created a public interest to file lawsuits. Formed the petition. Our government is making false allegations.”

Hemant Soren also raised the issue of corruption case against former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda during his address. He accused the saffron party of ruining Koda’s future.

Madhu Koda served as the Jharkhand CM of the UPA government from 2006 to 2008. He resigned after the JMM withdrew support. At that time, his leadership was questioned over his alleged involvement in the mining scam in the state. He was accused of accepting huge bribes for illegally allotting iron ore and coal mining contracts.

Madhu Koda was arrested by the Vigilance Wing of the state police in connection with the scam on November 30, 2009. He was later released on bail from Birsa Munda Jail on 31 July 2013. Presently the CBI is probing the case.

During his speech, the Jharkhand CM said that the BJP ruled the state for two decades but “robbed it” as the tribals were illiterate and did not understand politics.

He claimed that the BJP government is scared of the overwhelming response it is getting for its welfare scheme. Hemant Soren on Monday also took the opportunity to lash out at the BJP over its relentless protest against corruption outside the block offices.

Hemant Soren said, “I want to ask why and for whom you are protesting. The allegations of corruption you have made against me and my government have been quashed by the top court today.” He claimed that the BJP is being opposed by those whom it has hired.

Hemant Soren said, “BJP always fooled the tribals, only able to sell hadiya (country liquor). The UPA government is committed to do development work and bring the mineral-rich state on the path of progress.”

He claimed to have limited the government’s development work “only on paper”. Meanwhile, BJP’s Jamshedpur Mahanagar Samiti president Gunjan Yadav said that the Soren government has failed to fulfill its promise of providing employment to five lakh youth in the state. At the same time, he also said that the CM did not live up to his promise of giving allowance to unemployed youth.
