Just like goats are bought for Eid, BJP is buying MLAs to topple state governments, alleges Gehlot in Gujarat

Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Sunday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is buying MLAs to topple elected governments in states just as goats are bought for Eid celebrations. .

He said the BJP had used money power to topple governments in Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and unsuccessfully tried to oust them in Rajasthan as well. ,

He was addressing a rally at Khedbrahma town in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district, where assembly elections are due by the end of the year.

He said the Congress manifesto for the assembly elections would be released by November 8.

Gehlot said, “BJP’s acts are weakening democracy. They topple state governments and form their government by buying MLAs. Using money received through electoral bonds, they buy MLAs like people don’t buy goats during Eid.” Buy goat from the mandis.”

“The BJP first toppled the Congress government in Arunachal Pradesh and formed its own government. The same thing happened in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Each MLA was paid around Rs 35 crore. Though they recently tried to do the same in Rajasthan But they could not succeed as all the MLAs remained united.”

He also expressed displeasure over the recent defection of Khedbrahma Congress MLA Ashwin Kotwal to the ruling BJP.

Before Khedbrahma, Gehlot and other senior Congress leaders addressed a rally at Virampur village in Banaskantha in northern Gujarat.

During the Virampur rally, Gehlot said the Congress would announce its election manifesto for Gujarat on November 8, adding that it would primarily focus on social security like free health, education and employment.

“We will implement Rajasthan’s social security model in Gujarat. We provide medical insurance of Rs 10 lakh to each family. We also run a free kitchen where anyone can get food for Rs 8. Instead of 100 days We provide employment of 125 days under MGNREGA,” he said.
