Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan-led Makkal Nidhi Maiyam (MNM) on Thursday announced that it will independently contest the upcoming local body elections in nine districts of Tamil Nadu.
According to a tweet by Haasan, the party is going to start campaigning for the elections soon.
Haasan tweeted, “Makkal Nidhi Mayyam will contest the local body elections alone. I am going to campaign in all nine districts. See you in the fray. Victory is ours.”
The MNM formed an alliance with All India Samthuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) and Bharatiya Jannayaga Katchi (IJK) in the recently held assembly elections.
Earlier on Wednesday, AIADMK’s ally PMK in the assembly elections also decided to contest the local body polls independently.
