Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Gadkari did an aerial survey of the longest expressway

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari conducted aerial survey today Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (DME) will cover the states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

The 8-lane expressway is expected to reduce the commute time between the national capital and the financial center from about 24 hours to 12 hours. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is likely to be completed by March 2023 and is being built as part of the first phase of the Bharatmala project. According to an official statement recently, the 1,380 km long Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be the longest expressway in India.

Earlier in the day, he inspected the Express Highway at Sohna in Haryana. State Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the media in Sohna, Gadkari said, “Delhi-Katra Expressway will be launched in two years, to reduce the distance from 727 to 572 kms, you will reach Delhi to KatraI in six hours. We are also working on new roads from Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Dehradun and Delhi-Haridwar to get you there in two hours.”

The expressway will connect the urban centers of Delhi along the Delhi-Faridabad-Sohna section of the corridor as well as Jewar Airport and Jawaharlal Nehru Port through a spur in Mumbai.

The expressway will improve connectivity to economic centers like Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, thereby providing economic prosperity to lakhs of people.
