Karnataka CM to discuss loss of Rs 225 crore to IT companies due to rain

Traffic jams were further disrupted due to waterlogging in many parts of Bengaluru.

Bangalore:

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured IT companies to discuss the estimated loss of Rs 225 crore due to rain and waterlogging in Bengaluru.

He said that he will discuss the damage and compensation due to rain and waterlogging in the state capital.

Bommai told ANI, “We will call IT companies and talk with them about the problems caused due to water logging. We will also discuss compensation and other damages caused by the rains.”

His assurance has come after IT companies have asked the Chief Minister to solve the problem of Outer Ring Road.

Earlier today, Bengaluru was hit by severe waterlogging as the city received continuous heavy rains.

Waterlogging caused traffic jams and disruptions in many parts of Bengaluru, including Koramangala.

One of the locals said that the heavy rains had caused water logging, which made it very difficult to drive.

“It has rained heavily. We woke up in the morning and noticed that waterlogging had started. The water on the road had come up to the level of the divider. After that, we started pumping water from the road and the basement. A local resident of mine told ANI that the entire basement was submerged in water.

Another local said that this situation happens every year, and they have to pump water due to poor drainage system.

“It happens every year, it gets waterlogged after rain, and we have to take out the water. There is no permanent solution. When the road was being built, the drainage system was not well prepared. This caused many difficulties. Public, many women have actually slipped and fell into the water,” said another local.

Earlier in July, Karnataka was hit by heavy floods due to rain, after which rescue operations and relief work had to be carried out. Chief Minister Bommai also had to take financial assistance from the Centre.
