Kejriwal appears before CBI, over 100 protesting AAP workers detained

Over 100 AAP supporters and workers were detained from Kashmere Gate ISBT while they were protesting. CBI questioning Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, A senior police officer said they were detained on charges of obstructing traffic and taken in four buses.

Senior AAP leaders Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, Delhi cabinet ministers Kailash Gehlot, Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Imran Hussain and Raj Kumar Gautam and other leaders were detained at Archbishop Makarios Marg near the CBI headquarters in South Delhi .

Delhi Police took these leaders into custody after Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann left the protest site.

AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh had earlier in the day said, “We will wait till the chief minister comes out here.” We will chalk out our strategy later.”

Another senior police officer said, “Around 25 AAP workers were detained near ITO intersection.”

In a five-minute video message on Twitter, Mr Kejriwal claimed the BJP may have ordered the agency to arrest him, before arriving at the heavily guarded agency headquarters at 11.10 am.

The AAP leader asserted that he would truthfully and honestly answer questions asked by the CBI in the excise matter as he has nothing to hide.

He said, ‘I have been summoned by the CBI today and I will give all the answers honestly. These people are very powerful. They can send anyone to jail, it does not matter whether the person has committed any crime or not,” the AAP leader said.

He said, ‘Since yesterday all their leaders are shouting loudly that Kejriwal will be arrested and I think BJP has also instructed CBI to arrest Kejriwal. If BJP has ordered then who is CBI? The CBI is going to arrest me,” he said.

AAP alleges Punjab ministers, MLAs stopped from entering Delhi

Several AAP leaders, including ministers and MLAs from Punjab, alleged that they were prevented from entering Delhi.

Party leaders from Punjab were on their way to Delhi to extend support to Chief Minister Kejriwal, who was summoned by the federal agency to its office in the national capital in connection with irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the now-cancelled excise policy.

The ruling party in Punjab claimed that Ministers Bram Shankar Zimpa, Dr. Balbir Singh and Harjot Singh Bains, and MLAs Dinesh Chadha and Kuljit Randhawa were among those stopped at the Singhu border and not allowed to enter Delhi .

“We can’t even enter our capital? @DelhiPolice is not allowing my car to enter Delhi,” Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains said in a tweet.

Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh alleged that democracy was being “murdered” in the country.

“The Constitution and the Supreme Court give us the right to move freely and protest peacefully in our country. Permission is also not being given. Many of my cabinet colleagues, MLAs and volunteers have been kept in illegal detention in Badli. Shame on you,” he tweeted.

AAP said in a tweet, “Cabinet Minister @BJimpaAAP MLA @Dinesh Chaddha 3 MLA @MGiaspura Kuljeet Randhawa taken into custody by police while protesting misuse of CBI to suppress voice of AAP Convener & Delhi CM were staying.”
