Alappuzha (Kerala):
Kerala Home Secretary V Venu, his wife Sharada Muraleedharan, who is Additional Chief Secretary, their son and some relatives traveling with them were injured when their car collided with a truck in Kayamkulam on Monday.
The incident took place around 1 am when the home secretary and his family were returning from Kochi to Thiruvananthapuram, a senior district police officer said.
His vehicle collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction, the officer said.
Venu and the driver of the car were seriously injured in the accident, while others suffered minor injuries, he said.
The official said the home secretary suffered injuries on his nose and abdomen and also suffered internal bleeding, but according to doctors his condition is stable at present.
The truck driver is currently in custody, he said.
He also said that the cause of the accident is not yet known.
