New video of Lakhimpur Kheri going viral

The violence in Lakhimpur Kheri has created a major political storm, with opposition parties accusing the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government of shielding the culprits. Since then several videos of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident have surfaced on social media platforms. Four of the eight killed were farmers, who were allegedly crushed by vehicles driven by BJP workers at an event in the area to welcome Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. The other four include two BJP workers, the driver of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra and journalist Raman Kashyap.

The farmers have alleged that Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish was inside the vehicle, which the BJP leader vehemently denied. Though the Union minister’s son Ashish has been named in the FIR in connection with the incident, opposition leaders and farmers have been demanding his arrest and the minister’s sacking from the Union Cabinet.

Another video has surfaced on the social media platform, in which a jeep is seen running over a group of protesting farmers. The clip was shared by BJP leader Varun Gandhi and other opposition leaders. This video is a longer version of the same video which is going viral on social media.

Varun said, “The video is absolutely clear. The protesters cannot be silenced through murder. There should be accountability for the innocent blood of the felled farmers and justice should be given before the message of arrogance and cruelty comes to the mind of every farmer.” ” tweeted.

The new video shows a black SUV – according to the Union minister’s own confession – plowing swiftly into an unarmed group of protesters. There are no signs of any attack on the Mahindra Thar. It shows that no stones or sticks were thrown at the car or the driver lost control.

In this video, the driver is firmly grasping the steering wheel and driving at high speed, with his back to a group of farmers marching in front of the SUV.

It is noteworthy that the farmers had gathered in protest against the visit of Union Home Minister Ajay Mishra and State Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya to a wrestling match.

Farmer groups are claiming that Mishra’s son was in a car when the vehicle rammed four protesters, killing him. He has denied this allegation. The new video surfaced a day after the Supreme Court announced that it was taking the matter as a media report and a letter to Chief Justice NV Ramana of two lawyers cast doubt on the Uttar Pradesh Police’s investigation into the incident.
