Revenue officials of the Madurai Corporation on Tuesday sealed a private school running on Aruppukottai Main Road in Vilapuram here on charges of tax evasion.
The school, located in Ward 92 of Corporation Zone V, had failed to clear tax dues between the financial period from 2018 to 2023. The school owed an amount of ₹7,23,397 in property tax.
The school administration had failed to pay the dues despite corporation officials issuing notices and repeatedly urging them to pay the dues in person.
Thereafter, the revenue officials sealed the principal’s room and administrative office in the presence of Assistant Commissioner AW Syed Mustafa Kamal.
Other revenue officers including Assistant Revenue Officer Rajkumar were present.
