Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole on Wednesday said all alliance partners of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) should have been taken into confidence while drafting the ward structure for the municipal elections. The Congress leader was talking to reporters in Nagpur about the party’s disappointment over the ward structure in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

“When there is a coalition government, it is expected that the coalition parties together prepare the draft of the ward structure. “It is not right to harm a friend when we are all together, so local Congress office-bearers have expressed their dismay,” Patole said.

Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress are the main constituents of the MVA alliance. He further said that the party had demanded representation of two members in each ward, but now there will be three-member wards.

“Be it Mumbai or Pune, if some of the MVA parties draft the ward structure as per their convenience, we will definitely approach the court on this issue,” the Congress leader said. Municipal elections are to be held in several major cities of the state including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Thane.
