A press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office said that the decision to offer this incentive so that a large number of farmers can come forward to repay their loans will be applicable for the financial years 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20. .
To be eligible for the scheme, farmers will have to repay their loans by June 30, which is by the end of the first quarter of the next financial year. For example, a farmer who opted for short-term loan in 2017-18 and repaid the same by 30th June, 2018 would likewise become eligible under the scheme. However, for FY 2019-20, the last date for repayment is August 31, 2020.
The maximum incentive to be given in the financial year 2019-20 will be Rs 50,000. A press statement said that farmers whose loan amount is less than Rs 50,000 in 2019-20 will get an incentive amount equal to their principal amount.
While computing the incentive, the entire loan amount he has repaid to various banks, such as nationalized banks, private banks, rural banks, district central co-operative banks and other co-operative banks will be considered.
