Mahindra XUV 400 Electric: Top 5 things you need to know – Times of India

Mahindra & Mahindra recently confirmed the launch of its first fully electric car in the Indian market – the XUV400 SUV. The company released a new teaser video that confirms that the EV will be launched in India on September 8. The company also recently unveiled its upcoming five electric SUV concepts based on Mahindra’s new INGLO EV platform. Models based on these concepts will be sold through two sub-brands, XUV.e and BE. The XUV.e range will include the XUV.e8 (electric XUV700) and XUV.e9 coupe SUVs and the BE model lineup will include the BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09.

1. Design

Talking about the exterior design of the SUV, the teaser makes it clear that the XUV400 will be an electrified version of the XUV300 SUV. The 400 gets a close-off front grille with X-patterned bronze, black design and new Twin Peaks logo which is also finished in bronze. It also gets newly designed headlamps with integrated DRLs.

The front end looks similar to the eXUV300 concept that was showcased at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. At the rear, the SUV is expected to borrow design elements from the SsangYong Tivoli with new wraparound tail lamps.

2. Electric Motor and Dimensions
Mahindra hasn’t revealed any powertrain details of the XUV400, expect the new 400 to be powered by a single front-wheel drive electric motor that produces 130 bhp of power.
The Mahindra XUV 400 measures around 4.2 meters in length and will offer more space and a bigger boot than the 3,995mm longer XUV300.
3. Battery and Range
The electric motor is expected to draw its power from a 40 kWh battery pack, which is capable of delivering a range of 400 km on a single charge. It is also expected that Mahindra may offer the XUV 400 with two battery pack options. The exact technical specifications are yet to be confirmed.

4. Expected Characteristics
In terms of features, the XUV 400 gets a larger 8-inch with AdrenoX connected car tech, electric sunroof, digital instrumental cluster, aerodynamically designed 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control system, auto headlamp A touchscreen infotainment system is expected. With rain sensing wiper, Type-C charging outlet and many more.

It is expected to get safety features like 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, all-four disc brakes and cornering brake control.
5. Expected Value and Competitors
Mahindra XUV 400 Electric The SUV is expected to be priced from Rs 15-20 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the electric SUV competes with the Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric.
