Taking a jibe at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, questioned the existence of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA). “There is no UPA now,” he said after meeting Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar. Mamata’s meeting with Sharad Pawar, an ally of the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi and Shiv Sena leaders, comes at a time when the rift between the TMC and the Congress is growing. Congress is part of MVA. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar also backed Mamata Banerjee’s view on an alliance against the BJP. In an effort to form a pan-India coalition of opposition parties ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Banerjee is on a three-day visit to Mumbai. Earlier, he met Shiv Sena leaders Sanjay Raut and Aaditya Thackeray.
