All Mahila Police, Madhavaram has arrested a 31-year-old man for sexually assaulting a three-and-a-half year old girl.
Police said the parents of the victim, who lived in Madhavaram police district limits, had dropped their children – a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son – at a relative’s house on Wednesday and went to their regular work places. When the children were at her home under her care, the relative raped the girl. The children told their parents about the sexual harassment which continued for a long time and the parents lodged a complaint with the police.
On investigation, the police arrested the accused, who has been identified as D. Mohandas alias Naveen Kumar (31), a resident of Madhavaram. The accused was involved in several offenses including physical assault and theft and had eight criminal cases registered in Madhavaram and Puzhal police station areas. He was sent to judicial custody.
