Google Maps is one of those apps that many of us cannot live without. The app has been able to almost completely replace local tea-sellers when it comes to giving directions in unknown locations. Despite people relying heavily on it, the app is not safe from glitches and often gives instructions that are fun enough to go viral on social media platforms. Something similar happened recently when a person said on Twitter that Google Maps took him to a bush and asked him to climb a mango tree. Twitter user @CallmeAlfredo wrote in a tweet, “Google Maps is not taking us into the bush and has the audacity to say “Turn left”. In the mango tree?”

I will never forget the day we used Google Maps to travel to Calabar by road. Before we knew it, we were in a village with a dead end. Google Maps said we should keep going – M. (@mxndxyluv) December 27, 2021
This is how my mom and I were going to Dodova with Google Maps and we were using some unrelated roads to go. I’ve never trusted google since then https://t.co/LLqaeqgMVQ— Daiki A👑 (@daaaaiikkiee) December 28, 2021
Never forget to accept a shorter route to Capeto via Sogakop. The road was started with coal tar and all seemed fine until the wire portion ended and portions of the road looked like bush paths/tracks. Went too far and it was getting late. had to travel through the bushes https://t.co/KP5lvbpKYl— local pig farmer (@pkamoh) December 27, 2021

This isn’t the first time a Google Maps error has gone viral. Earlier this year, a disturbance led to an Indonesian man marrying a stranger when Google Maps misplaced him. According to media reports, on April 4, the disturbance took place due to two rituals – a marriage and an engagement – in the same village.
The 27-year-old bride ULFA told the media that she was unaware of the mingling as she was getting ready with her make-up artist. According to Malay Mail, the bride’s family welcomed the guests, offered refreshments from the visit and proceeded to exchange gifts. However, soon after a conversation between the family members a member of the man’s family realized his mistake and fortunately, a major mistake was averted.
The man’s family apologized for the mix-up, saying they were taken to the venue by Google Maps before exiting. The man’s wedding party was on his way to his wedding venue in the Losari hamlet of Pakistan district in central Java, but the navigation app brought them to the Jengkol hamlet, located not far from the Losari hamlet.
