MeitY conducts intensive training program on Cyber ​​Security for CISOs

With an aim to create awareness about cyber security and develop a strong and robust cyber ecosystem in government organizations, National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) organized a five-day intensive dive training programme. did.

This program is conducted for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and IT officers of various Ministries and Departments, Government and Semi-Government Organizations of Central and State Governments, PSUs and Banks.

The training program was a part of a series of workshops organized by the National e-Governance Division at MeitY under the Cyber ​​Safe India initiative. It will help CISOs and other participants to equip themselves with a better understanding of the emerging cyber threat landscape and best practices in cyber security to enable them to translate the benefits of secure cyberspace to individual organizations and citizens at large. be.

The inaugural session of the event was attended by Abhishek Singh, P&CEO, NeGD and SN Tripathi, DG, IIPA.

Emphasizing on the importance of cyber security in the current scenario of escalating cyber attacks, Tripathi encouraged CISO officers to be innovative and futuristic while supporting the cyber security efforts of their organizations.

In his address, Abhishek Singh emphasized the need for strong cyber security practices at the individual level and urged all CISO participants to use appropriately licensed software. He also reminded them of the various initiatives of the Government of India in the said domain, especially highlighting the very sensitive National Center for Protection of Critical Information Infrastructure (NCIIPC) to tackle potential cyber threats on critical infrastructure.

The Cyber ​​Safe India initiative was launched by MeitY in January 2018 and is a first of its kind public-private partnership that leverages the expertise of the IT industry in cyber security with MeitY’s organizations such as CDAC, CERT-In, NIC and STQC. Is. As knowledge partners in this training programme.

From June 2018 to September 2022, 29 batches of training have already been conducted and around 1,224 CISOs and other frontline IT officers from Central and State Governments, PSUs, Banks and Government Organizations have been trained.

The event is being organized from August 22 to August 26, 2022. At the end of the sessions, it is envisaged that CISOs will be equipped and empowered to tackle cyber security challenges in their respective organizations and will spread the necessary awareness about cyber crime and build capacities for security.
