Deputy Chief Minister and Minority Minister S.K. Amjath Basha said that all arrangements are being made to inaugurate the mental health care center at RIMS Kadapa by March next year.

Mr Amzath Basha called on Indala Ramasubba Reddy, eminent psychiatrist and director of the Vijayawada Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (VIMHANS), at the hospital on Thursday.

He visited the hospital and inquired about the facilities available for mental health care.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Amjath Basha said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had laid the stone for the construction of a mental health care institute in the premises of RIMS, Cuddapah, and the work was in full swing. He said that Mr Jagan extended the Aarogyasri scheme to the patients facing mental health issues.

He said the new hospital would cater to the needs of patients in Rayalaseema region and Nellore and Prakasam districts. He commended Dr. Indla for moving from his native Cuddapah to Vijayawada and setting up the first mental care hospital in the city 40 years ago.
