Call it the party of the year or the biggest fashion night, the Met Gala is an event that every fashionista looks forward to. It is held annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and brings together the most influential personalities from across the United States, all under one roof. This year, the Met Gala took place on May 2, 2022 and the theme was ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’. The event saw a guest list adorned with stars including Natasha Poonawalla, Kim Kardashian, Sophie Turner, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Ryan Reynolds, Riz Ahmed and more. According to a post on the official Twitter handle of Vogue Runway, the menu was curated by three talented female chefs – Lauren von der Poole, Melissa King and Amirah Kasem. These three renowned chefs each have their own unique style of working, which they put together to create a menu that represents the evolution of American cuisine.

Let’s take a look at the Met Gala 2022 dinner menu:

Lauren von der Poole, a plant-based chef, was in charge of the appetizers. She created a vegetarian version of deviled eggs (using Yukon potatoes instead of eggs and meat), truffle potato bites, rice cakes and coconut ceviche.

For the main course, Melissa King cooked fresh hamachi, drizzled with citrus, olives and Sichuan peppers – a dish that defines the amalgamation of dishes.

The dessert was curated by Amirah Kasem. She designed a chocolate cake, layered with either chocolate or cappuccino icons. This dessert was reportedly a tribute to the dress code of the night.

However, the highlight of the evening or the main entrance to the dinner party was prepared by the famous chef Marcus Samuelsson, who chose chefs Lauren, Melissa and Amira for the gala dinner. Chef Marcus prepared “a hearty dose of Americana,” a barbecue striploin with spring carrots, crunchy rice, and cornbread crumble.
