Odisha Police on 1 February said that the postmortem report of slain Health Minister Naba Kishore Das said he died due to “cardiogenic shock” after being shot.

The shooter, Additional Sub-Inspector Gopal Das, has been dismissed, sent to four-day police custody and is being questioned by the state CID.

The police will now conduct a forensic psychological evaluation of the accused by experts from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in New Delhi.

Odisha Police said in a statement, “The post-mortem report reveals that the death was due to cardiogenic shock resulting from firearm injuries and is homicide in nature”.
