Most of the COVID-19 cases are mild, no hospitalization required: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that though the number of daily COVID-19 cases and active cases are increasing in the city, there is no need to panic as they are very mild and require hospitalisation. is not required.

He presented data to show that despite a rise in the number of cases, bed occupancy in hospitals is less than one per cent and much lower than the deadly second wave of coronavirus in April of last year.

“Active COVID-19 cases increased from about 2,000 on December 29, 2021 to 6,000 on January 1, but the number of patients in hospitals decreased during this period. 262 beds were occupied on December 29, 2021, while On January 1 it was only 247,” Mr Kejriwal said in a virtual press conference.

He said that on March 27 last year, Delhi had 6,600 active cases and 1,150 oxygen beds were full. He said now 145 patients are on ventilator as compared to five.

Mr Kejriwal said that the cases of Kovid-19 are increasing rapidly in Delhi, but there is no need to panic.

“At present, the number of active cases in the city is 6,360 and 3,100 new cases are expected to be reported today (Sunday). All the cases are mild and most of those patients do not require hospitalisation,” the CM said.
