Mumbai’s air quality in ‘poor’ category, AQI 228 | Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: After more than two weeks of moderate and satisfactory, Mumbai’s air category has turned bad once again. This signals caution for Mumbaikars amid a surge in fresh Covid-19 cases.
According to SAFAR, Mumbai’s air quality index shows that it is in the ‘poor’ category and is likely to remain so for the next two days.
Mumbai’s overall AQI stood at 228 for the whole day Kolabas And Mazgaon Showing air quality in the ‘very poor’ category which can lead to an increased risk of respiratory problems.
Malad, Andheri And bkc were among the major suburbs that showed poor air quality.
Poor air quality poses a risk to the elderly, while even healthy people may experience slight discomfort. The advisory suggests that people with heart or lung disease, older adults and children should reduce long or heavy exertion and outdoor activities.
In areas with very poor airflow, it is advised to reduce heavy exertion as this can lead to a significant increase in respiratory problems.
