Bharat Biotech on Wednesday said it does not recommend any paracetamol or painkillers after being vaccinated against the COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin.

Bharat Biotech said in a Twitter post, “We have received feedback that some immunization centers are recommending three paracetamol 500 mg tablets with Covaxin for children. Recommendation of any paracetamol or pain reliever after vaccination with Covaxin is not done.”

The company further said that through clinical trials of nearly 30,000 individuals, about 10 to 20 percent reported side effects and most of them were mild, resolved within a day or two, and were more severe than any medication. was not required, the company further said.

The vaccine manufacturer said that the drug is recommended only after consultation with the physician.

It added that paracetamol was only recommended in conjunction with other COVID-19 vaccines and is not prescribed for Covaxin.
