New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi accorded a ceremonial welcome to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the chief guest at the Republic Day Parade, at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday.
This is Sissi’s first visit to India. Union ministers S Jaishankar, Dharmendra Pradhan, Mansukh Mandaviya and Piyush Goyal and Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena were present at the ceremony.
Modi and Sisi later held bilateral talks at Hyderabad House and announced that the two countries were elevating their ties to a “strategic partnership” to expand ties in the areas of defense and security, trade and counter-terrorism cooperation.
