Mysuru: Issue of sites allotted in the developed layout of Mysore Urban Development Authority Is (foldedUrban Development Minister once again appeared BA Basavaraju Saying that ‘thousands of sites’ remain the same in the developed layout.
MoU commissioner GT Dinesh Kumar told TOI that the minister was apprised of the issue during a meeting recently. “Actually they are classified as stray sites. Due to litigation, including patches of land in developed layout Vijay Nagar, Lalitadripur et al remains the same. Now that the case is cleared, the land has been occupied. A decision will be taken soon to dispose of them.”
Three years ago, Muda revealed that about 26,147 sites have remained unallocated in their developed layout for decades. Following the revelations, Muda launched a campaign to verify the records and confirmed that 9,508 sites were still ‘unallocated’. Muda officials had claimed in the 2019 budget that they had paid Rs 9.3 lakh to the sub registrar’s office to obtain encumbrance certificates for these sites. He had also claimed that the sites would be disposed of in the same current year. However, till now no information has been received about these sites.
These are lands acquired from farmers and landlords to develop them and distributed to the general public seeking sites. Although MUDA has sites available, they cannot distribute them to waiting site candidates due to restrictions. According to sources, the sites will be auctioned only at premium rates, which are expensive for the common man.
Founder President of Mysore Realtors Association Adish Sagar Said that the number of sites allotted could exceed 26,000. He alleged that a section of officials who headed the eight regions of Muda for some time was directly responsible for the situation.
A former member of Muda acknowledged that many sites are still owned by Muda that are not distributed in multiple layouts. This could be due to litigation, beneficiaries failing to pay money to MUDA and also due to land record details not being updated properly, he said.
