NEP 2020: Pradhan launches ‘Jagruti’ program of Ramakrishna Mission

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated Ramakrishna Mission’s ‘Jagruti’ program for students of classes 1 to 5, the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

This ‘Jagruti’ program is an initiative towards ensuring holistic personality development of a child in line with the philosophy of National Policy on Education (NEP), 2020.

Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said that NEP 2020 is deeply inspired by the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, adding that great people of India like Sri Aurobindo, Mahatma Gandhi, Vivekananda envisioned an education system that would take the country forward. Be rooted in progressive and civilizational values ​​to carry. ahead.

According to the ministry, Pradhan said that social change is one of the major goals of education. Values ​​and knowledge are more important than material wealth. He said that value based education is important for building a future ready and socially aware generation.

While implementing NEP 2020, emphasis should be laid on creating value-based educational programs for classes 9 to 12 in addition to classes 1-8.

Pradhan said that this initiative is a step towards ensuring holistic personality development of a child in line with the philosophy of NEP 2020.

The Minister called upon CBSE to set up an advisory framework to encourage value-based education in all schools from kindergarten to Class XII to create a talent pool prepared for the challenges of life and committed to national progress and global welfare.
