‘No extension in validity of driving license, vehicle papers after October 31’ | India News – Times of India

New Delhi: There will be no further extension for validity of expired vehicle and driver related documents such as driving license (DL), Certificate of Registration (RC), permit and fitness certificate after 31st October, ministry of road transport Transporters’ associations have been informed. The extension of validity is currently applicable for documents whose expiry date was from February 1, 2020.
In a communication sent to the transporters’ organisations, the ministry said, “It is clarified that this is the last such extension and no further extension will be given by the central government in this regard.”
This means that even if some states or union territories notify such an extension for a longer period – such as Delhi has extended the validity period till November-end – those who have expired documents may continue to do so in that particular state. or may face action if caught outside the union territory as there is no central notificationwhich is applicable throughout the country.
“States and Union Territories have also been advised to complete the pending services in mission mode and in a time bound manner to achieve the same,” the ministry said. It said that the states have been advised to put in additional resources to complete the processes relating to pending cases of fitness, permits, renewal and re-issuance of various documents of RC and DL.
