Kriya University announced the appointment on Friday Nobel prize winner Dr. Esther Duflo as a member of its Governing Council. On her new role, Dr. Esther Duflo said, “It’s fair to say that we wouldn’t have received the Nobel Prize if it weren’t for all the research we could do in India, thanks largely to the support we have in 2008. From the sponsoring body of Kriya University. I look forward to helping Kriya University realize its mission of helping to prepare humanity for an unexpected world.”
Dr. Esther Duflo is an economist and professor of poverty alleviation and development economics at the Massachusetts Institute. Technology (MIT). He is also the co-founder and co-director of Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). He was awarded the 2019 Nobel Prize for Economics (Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel) along with Dr. Abhijit Banerjee and Dr. Michael Kremer for developing an innovative experimental approach to alleviating global poverty.
